Evaluation for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with Dr. Courtney

I provide autism assessments for adults and teens living throughout California, conducted entirely via telehealth.

While I work with people of all genders, I have a particular interest in supporting women, queer and trans folks, and individuals whose autism may have been missed earlier in life because they didn't fit the "typical" picture professionals were trained to look for. So many of my clients masked or compensated for years before ever considering autism as part of their story.

If that sounds familiar, you're exactly who this assessment is for.

A thorough evaluation takes time, because getting it right matters more than getting it fast.

The process begins with a comprehensive clinical interview covering your developmental history, sensory experiences, social patterns, interests, and how you move through daily life, from childhood through adulthood. I ask about how you experience yourself, other people, and the world around you, since this gives us the clearest picture of how your brain actually works.

Whenever possible, I also like to gather input from someone who knows you well, such as a parent, partner, or close friend. With your permission, I'll talk with them briefly to get a fuller view of your personality, behavior, strengths, and challenges across different settings.

From there, I administer standardized testing measures, score and interpret everything I've gathered, and determine whether you meet criteria for autism and/or other co-occurring conditions, since ADHD, anxiety, and other diagnoses often travel alongside autism and deserve attention too.

We then meet for a feedback session where I walk you through your results and what they mean, in plain language, along with recommendations to support you moving forward. You'll also receive a comprehensive written report summarizing everything, which can be used for accommodations, treatment planning, or simply as something to hold onto as you make sense of your own story.

The cost of a full autism assessment, including the written report and feedback session, is $2,500. If you're also being evaluated for ADHD as part of the same process, the combined assessment is $3,000.

I also provide therapy for autistic adults who want support beyond the assessment itself, whether that's understanding your own patterns more deeply, navigating relationships, managing emotions, or simply feeling less alone in how you experience the world. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming from the very first conversation.

You don't need to perform or explain yourself here. You just need to show up as you are.
